In the Bible, the fish as a symbol is mentioned several times, especially in the New Testament. The fish has been an important symbol of Christianity since the early church. The Greek word “ichthus” means fish and is an abbreviation for the Greek “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.”Especially interesting is the interpretation of the prophecy as fishing. He (Jesus) told them: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people” (4:19). Here the followers of Jesus become fishers of people – catchers of souls. So, the Soul is compared to a Fish.
