Danse Macabre (French) or the Dance of Death, also known as the Totentanz and la Danza de la Muerteis (in Germany and in Spain, respectively) is popular allegory in early-Renaissance culture.

It represents the universality of death and reminds us of the fragility of our lives and the illusory nature of earthly glory, power and wealth.
