Don’t be mistaken, this is not the story of Salome, daughter of Herod Philip and Herodias who ordered the head of John the Baptist on the plate as if she were in some sophisticated Manhattan restaurant. I’d hardly be fascinated of such a perversion. My Salome is also mentioned in the New Testament. She was one of the holy women presented at the Crucifixion, and who visited the tomb on the morning of the Resurrection.
“And there were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalen, and Mary the Mother of James the Less and of Joseph, and Salome.” (Mark 15:40; 16:1).
Some commentators consider her as sister of the Blessed Virgin mentioned in John 19:25. Anyway, this woman was a true believer, pure soul.
